1964 Fairlane 500 4 Door

Hey Ya'll, Here's my '64 500 4 door sedan, 260 2-V, Fordomatic trans with a/c, skylight blue, with blue interior and hubcaps. My grandmother bought it new about 6 months after I was born to have a reliable car to come visit me and my family 250 miles away. She drove it for about 10 years then my Dad inherited it. When I started wanting to buy a car it was passed on to me, but I bought another car anyway, and another, and another. Drove it through high school and my college career, then it sat at my parents. When they got tired of it sitting there, I drug it home and got it going again. I tuned it up, buffed it out, put tires and brakes on it, and surprised my Dad with it on Father's Day 1991. Drove it again for a couple of years until the engine just couldn't go anymore. Then it sat beside my shop waiting it's turn. May 18, 1995 one of the worst tornado outbreaks to hit this area, North Alabama, was just a couple of miles to the south. Being on the north side of the storm, I experienced very large hail, tennis ball size. All my cars that were outside got major hail damage, including the Fairlane, and I had 17 windshields broken. Whew! Now the good part, I've been dating a girl for about 6 months, she doesn't now why I need so many cars, but she asked me about a month ago, 'why dont you bring your grandmothers car over and work on it in the barn?' What? She has a large barn with a 2 car 'garage area', I obliged. So now I'm working on the Fairlane again after it sitting for many years. Pulled the front cap and the engine. Tore the engine down and am now preparing to rebuild it. Will keep you posted on the refurbishment and am really looking forward to using it as daily transportation again. Here's a pic of the 1964 Fairlane 500 in June of 1991. 69cobra

Havn't updated this thread lately. Been dating, same girl, and got married October 4. Still working on the Fairlane and came across some roof ornaments by accident on ebay just surfing the Fairlane listings. Bought a pair of roof ornaments for $49.99, they are that much each in the catalogs. This guy has lots of good Ford stuff. Still need the emblems, but will hopefully luck into some of them reasonably. Here's a link to the listing. 69cobra
