tranny swap ?

Hey guys,

I have a stock 66 with 289 & C-4. Need a new tranny and found one from a 68 Galaxie with 302. The guys says its a C-4 but I find small difference's.
First is his has 14 bolts on the tranny pan, mine is 11. His tranny pan is much deeper. His tranny has a removeable tail section, my trans is all 1 solid housing.

Will this mount up to my stock 289 and crossmember mounts?

It appears the trans out of the Galaxy is a Crusomatic or an FM. Go here to look at the trans pan gasket to positively id: http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=2&Category_Code=Ford

You could bolt it up, but the added expense of making it work would drive me to rethink this option.

thanks Gerry,
looking at the pan gaskets.. it was deffinatly a FMX/ cruisomatic.
Guys says it was a C-4, flywheel had C-4 written on it, but it didnt look right to me so I passed on the deal. Good thing. It was just rebuilt and he only wanted $125. Bad thing is it was under the work bench and all ports were open to dirt, dust. Most likely pack it in once installed anyway.

Thanks for the help
