My '67 Street/Strip 'Lane - Added Some Pics

See attached pic of my street/strip '67 Fairlane 500. Took me a few months to find a completely rust-free hardtop; got it out of Washington State and had it shipped to Louisiana.

Running a 514 with Blue Thunder aluminum heads, 13:1, big Lunati roller, dynoed at 796 hp. Backed by a built C4 & Moser 9" with 35 spline axles and a spool. She's got a 10 point cage and is mini-tubbed. Still sorting it out, but should run 9's in the quarter once I get some traction...

Scott

Glad you like it. I'm really pleased with how it came out. She sits a little higher in the front now; added Moroso Trick Front Springs to help with weight transfer.

Future plans include stroking the 514 to 557 and dropping the compression and cam a bit to make it more streetable.

Hope to take it to the track in Temple, Tx next weekend.

Need to take some pics of my '66 convt and post those, too.

Thx,

Scott

Awesome! I love how it looks with the mouldings on. Just curious, are the roll bars/cage custom or was it something you bought as a kit?

Yeah, I really like the moldings, too. Don't think I'll remove 'em if I ever repaint.

Cage came as a kit from S&W, if I remember correctly. It's mild steel, not c-m. If I had to do it over again, I'd go with c-m to save a few #'s. However, car isn't that heavy now - 3280 without driver.

Old - C4 was built by Glenn Esler in Avondale, La. Has a transbrake and a 9" JW converter with about a 5,600 stall.

Nice

Very nice pics. I am curious what your time was. Also I see some good size tires on the back are your wheel wells original or altered. If original what size is the wheel and the backspacing. Also what size tire?

Car has not really made a full pass yet. Closest I've come was a 7.30 in the 1/8th (translates to low 11.30's in the quarter mile), having to get out of it a few times and spinning all the way down the track. Computer says she should run 9.80's on the motor if all the planets line up just right. Don't really have a good excuse for not getting the car sorted out yet; have just been real busy. About to head to Iraq for a year, and will spend some quality time with the car when I return.

As for the tires, they're 28 x 11.5 - 15 Quick Time Pro. FYI - I'm running a ladder bar/coil over rear suspension with a slightly narrowed Moser 9" and it has been mini-tubbed (wheelwells extended to the framerail).

Hey Bulletproof. Your car looks sweet. I was wondering if your hood came from Crites. I'm getting ready to do the body/paint on my '67 and was looking at their tear drop hood. If it is from Crites, does it come with the holes in the rear of the scoop cut already, or do you have to cut them out yourself?

It's a Crites hood and I believe this was already cut out, but not sure. Car was out of state at a buddy's shop when the hood was painted and installed; never saw the hood in it's unfinished stage.

Try calling or e mailing Charles Crites - www.critesrestoration.com

Glad you like the car. I actually wanted the '66-'67 427 hood for the car, but thought I would need a bit of extra clearance, and the teardrop hood is a tad taller.

Hey Bulletpruf, I think that car is one of the meanest, slickest looking 66's out there! That over sized tear drop scoop really makes it all come together. Did you make that hood set up or is it from Crites?
