64 mods in progress without even having the car .
Hi all . Some of you may remember me ..for those of you who don't or are new I once owned my dad's daily driver 64 sports coupe , 289 , 4 speed .I restored most of it .. new 5 bolt 289, new interior, new cragar rims and kelly charger tires , new two tone paint .. was about 80% done but it was always drivable when the wife after 18 years got a new job and a met someone after work at the bar and she left me and our 7 year old son. I did everything to make her stay including showing her my family was more important than my car so i regretfully sold it . it's been over two years now .. I am divorced and have full custody of my son and had my house foreclosed on, filed bankruptcy and now live in an apartment. I never even got a chance to enjoy that fairlane after all the work i did... it was a great hobby which alot of people told me that i had a gift at . I had alot of fun at it .. so much that i gurantee that i will get another 64 sports coupe with a 4 speed . I am starting to buy a few parts here and there . I have alot of idea's since this is my second time doing it and i know what i liked and what i said was just good enough. whoever reads this post you will surely know when i get my fairlane because it will blow you away with what i have in mind. I am not a machinist or welder and don't know alot about car's so mechanically i will keep it mainly stock except for the 1 wire alt. 1 wire distributor, convert to 65 timing chain cover and cast iron water pump.
However cosmetically it will be like no other 64 i have ever heard of or seen . I am silly for thinking that if i tell you what i have in store for it or show you what i have done with the parts , trim i have you would copy it or have it done before me but i am saving my idea's until i can show off the whole thing. I have spent 2 or 3 grand so far in personalization parts mostly I am not worried about finding another 64 ..I will take a loan out of my 401 k to get it when i am ready for it.. nice to be back .. sorta (no car yet)

I was collecting parts about 3-4 years before I even started to restore/modify my 64. If your going to be buying some parts, look for the hard stuff to get. Some of the difficult and pricey stuff to find are any of the original 4 speed stuff and the front hood lip molding. Your best bet would be to find a car first. This way you will know what you'll need and what to look for. None of the trim, back aluminum panels or grill are reproduced.
post pics of what have customized already. also pics post of 64 you sold _________________ John P

cool pieces! No one going to rip you for it. It's your car. The front and rear light are neat. That taillight bucket looks new! is it NOS or did you have it re-anodized? _________________ John P

nothing wrong with getting parts.
I have had three 63 Meteors and two of them were S-33's one a 4 speed car. A few years ago I had a 64 Fairlane SC 4 speed. One of the Meteors I had longer than my 1st wife, the car was a keeper she certainly was not.
Anyway I decided to get another Meteor these are one year with these pointed tailights with hood.
So I started buying parts, then remarried and low and behold the new wife found me a 2HT 63 Meteor. We have the interior, complete, put dish on front big drumns on back, anti sway bars, shocks. New heads etc.
We will get it painted maybe in 09 but have been having a few things rechromed and polished. So when it finallly gos together in 09 with new paint it will be sharp IMO.
Good luck
