It's not impossible that the rear end is from another car, especially in light of this situation. The rear end does "appear" to be origianl as the gear ratio matches the original setup (3.0 gears).

I've got my eye on some 16X7's as well. I've heard about too many problems with the 17X7's (which was also my perferred choice). Check out this guys' ride with 16X7's.
