As for adding power to a 289, cam and heads.
You can do a lot with a cam and set of heads. they dont have to be high dollar aluminum either.

Bogging is normally the power valve shot, that happened when it back fired. the power valve is in the carb. |

Measure the Bronco rearends from flange to flange, if they are close you can offset the wheels to work. |

In 65 Fomoco changed to a arm with bearings and yes it will interchange. the correct one for 62/63 and early 64 is a lop sided u shape |
